Airport City Within the City

This proposal investigates the notion of a contemporary airport city within an urban environment, while tracing the lineage of Modernist city design and airport-oriented architecture. The primary intention and line of research is to create a dispersed network of airports, both in its logistical and programmatic organization, using the city of Los Angeles’ infrastructure and catered to various types of air travel (regional, national, and international) in order to both reverse the trend of socio-economic stratification in air travel and also boost the economy of downtown LA.
